Italy is famous for its ceramics and their designs are recognized the world over.
This unique workshop focuses on using acrylics on paper to recreate the bright, whimsical Italian & Sicilian ceramic designs Italy is famous for, including those from Deruta.
You'll discover a secret technique that makes this art form easy & fun. Participants will create several paintings using acrylics on paper.
Take a step back in time! The stone-walled fortress of Vallo di Nera, surrounded by the lush Italian countryside, has secreted away artisans, cafes and artwork that your personal Italian-American guide, Jessica Vecchione, will lead you to during your retreat.
Guests stay in Jessica's private home and discover authentic Italian living in the tranquility of Casa della Zia, a traditional stone home with exquisite old-world craftmanship. It's the perfect blend of elegance and comfort for you to create unforgettable memories and immerse yourself in the daily life and culture of this ancient village.
Tour towns like Deruta, Assisi, Spoleto, Norcia and find painting inspiration by visiting their maiolica ceramics workshops.
Experience ancient and historical sites and feast on local cuisine, fresh handmade meals and regional drinks.
Plus, there'll be plenty of personal time for shopping, hiking, exploring and (most importantly) relaxing in the Umbrian sun! All with the stunning backdrop of Vallo di Nera, one of Italy's most beautiful villages.
Workshop is led by Sicilian-American Jeanette "Jet" Platania-Harper, an accomplished artist in Italian maiolica-style painting & Sicilian henna art. Her works are influenced by her Sicilian heritage, history & the esoteric. Jeanette owns Aunt Jet's, an enchanted emporium, in Delhi NY.
Jessica Vecchione, is an
Italian-American who's family is from, and still resides in, Umbria, Italy. Jessica's spent many summers throughout her life in Umbria so she knows all the cool places to visit. Jessica's your hostess, guide, driver, translator and the owner of Casa della Zia in Vallo di Nera.
