3rd Annual Italian Maiolica-Style Painting Workshop
Painting Retreat in Umbria, Italy - For beginners to experienced artists.
Italy is famous for its ceramics and their designs are recognized the world over. This class will create bright, whimsical acrylic paintings based on Italian and Sicilian designs, including those from nearby Deruta, Italy. Discover a simple technique that makes this art form easy and fun for painters at any level to create bold works of art. Participants will create several paintings using acrylics on paper.
The workshop portion of your adventure in Italy includes:
- Optional pre-trip painting class at Aunt Jet's in Delhi NY to show you have what it takes to truly enjoy the workshop,
- Daily immersive workshop lessons,
- Expert tutelage in a patient and helpful style,
- Visit a maiolica factory to experience how Italian ceramics go from raw clay to hand-painted to finished product - the perfect inspiration for our acrylic paintings!

Folk Magick Retreat in Umbria, Italy.
This experience focuses on the folk practices and traditions used by our ancestors from pre-Christian times through to the modern era.
You'll visit an herb garden dedicated to one of the first Italian woman-healers accused of witchcraft. Go on a weed walk to identify plants historically used in folk magick. Immerse yourself in a hands-on cooking class, visit an organic winery for a wine tasting and enjoy handmade focaccia cooked in a wood-fired oven that's located on-site at your accommodations.
The retreat portion of your adventure in Italy includes:
- How magick was ingrained in daily life and used through the ages,

- Folk customs going underground and adapted into Catholicism,
